TBI
What is Traumatic Brain Injury & Why Do I Need Treatment?
A Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) occurs when an external force causes damage to the brain, resulting in temporary or permanent cognitive, emotional, or physical impairments. A TBI can result from accidents, sudden stops, falls, sports injuries, a blow to the head, just to name a few.
Many people believe that you have to suffer from a loss of consciousness to have a TBI. That is simply not true. Symptoms may vary from mild (headaches, dizziness) to severe (memory loss, motor function issues, mood changes). It doesn't have to be 1 event. It can be the accumulation of several events over long periods of time. Without proper care, the long-term consequences of a TBI can drastically affect your quality of life.
