Benefits of Optimal Testosterone Levels

Lots of guys have gone to their primary care provider and wanted to know why they were so tired and uninterested in things that used to get them excited. So, they get their total testosterone checked (along with other blood tests) and are told that they are normal. Let’s pick a number, 350. Normal….maybe for an 80 year old. Unfortunately, their primary care provider will tell them that their testosterone is normal. I would agree that 350 is in the range of normal for just about any lab in the country. However, you still have little energy. You seem to be gaining weight around the middle, aka, middle age spread. Your brain is a little foggy. You have very little interest in sex. You might even have trouble getting things going when you are interested. To add insult to injury, the insurance company will refuse to pay for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) because your levels are “normal”.

Well, guess what. Your levels are in a normal range but your body is definitely saying “this ain’t normal”. That’s where optimization enters the equation. If you get your low normal testosterone up into the higher levels of the range then you are just about guaranteed to return to a level of energy, motivation, strength and stamina that you haven’t seen in a while.

It is a good idea to keep in mind that there are lots of factors that cause low testosterone levels. Weight, activity levels, controlled blood pressure and blood sugar, smoking, overeating, excess alcohol consumption, etc… Does this mean they can be raised naturally. YES! Reduce your calories. Stay away from too much processed food. Cut down on smoking. Cut down on alcohol consumption.

One more thing. If you decide to get some off brand product from some guy at your gym that makes it in his backyard…just don’t! Legitimate testosterone products are made by reputable pharmacies and require a prescription from someone with a DEA license. It is a controlled substance. Your friend’s trainer’s best friends cousin who is making it in his backyard shed does not have your best interests in mind.
